Sea Cadets

You made this possible:  This summer, we (the Sea Cadet Program) racked up some impressive training numbers—thanks to you.

  • 6 Sea cadets trained underway onboard the USCG Bargue Eagle for 7 days—1 was from the Portland Division
  • 7 Sea Cadets were at outbound international exchange trainings—1 was from the Portland Division to HMCS Quadra, Comax, B.C.
  • 64 Sea Cadets completed summer trainings at the service academies, 3 were from the Portland Division and 1 Cadet attended three of the academies.
  • 199 Sea Cadet summer training events with 4415 Sea Cadets attending and graduating.
  • 59 League Cadet summer training events with 1123 League Cadets attending and graduating.
  • 1094 adult Escort Officers and COTC’s supported the summer trainings.

Additionally, the Sea Cadet Executive Director has written that the Sea Cadet program has reached an all time high enrollment of 13,573. He also quotes Colin Powell “There are no secrets for success.  It is result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.  This is what we ask of our Cadets: Come prepared for drill and training, work diligently with your peers, and learn from failure rather than fear it.  Give it your best! That’s exactly what our   Cadets do, and what makes the Sea Cadet program so successful.
